Personal  History

What is your profession?

Your working lifestyle and background on how you’re spending the majority of your time will make a big difference to your posture, and where we expect to find pain. There’s a big difference, for example, between an office worker and a driver. Whilst they both might suffer from back pain, the areas affected will be different and will require different care.

Where would you put your stress levels at the moment on a scale of 1-10 ?

-Is it home or work factors that are most stressful for you at the moment?

-Sounds like you have a lot going on at work?

-Do you feel like you are getting any support around those issues?

-Do you have any strategies for helping manage your stress levels?

-Sounds like you have been feeling pretty anxious since your road accident?

-Have you had a chance to talk that through with anyone like a supportive friend or counsellor?

How do you spend your day?

Yoga, dance, sports, gym, gardening, cycling, walking, camping, etc can be part of your day, week or month. If you do very limited amount of activities, that is completely okay. The therapist intentions are never to shame you about your daily lifestyle or routine. Be mindful, that the exercises, sports and activities you do will have an impact on your body, and where we might find painful muscle swelling., just like the work lifestyle does.

Would you like to Customize your massage?

The therapist may recommend different techniques or types of massage treatment, or the time treatments should be done after listening to client's concerns. For instance, the therapist may say that 90min,  JADE Hot Stone massage will work great with someone who is sufferering from Fibromyalgia for couple of sessions to begin with, and will plan the following visits based on how the client feels.

Please remember that therapist is only recommending based on what the body needs based on the chief complain, overall history, current conditions and associated symptoms.

It's not always about upselling, plus every Therapist in unique in their practice.

And, it is completely okay to make your choice?

Communication Before Massage by Therapist

Draping

Communicating with the Client that Therapist respects their dignity, and they can undress to their level of comfort,  and cover themselves with the top sheet and blanket.

Ensuring the Client that Draping will be a smooth and seamless process, and won't interrupt the flow of the massage.

The Client has the choice to remain draped on certain areas if they prefer, and they can communicate during the massage, so the Therapist can change their technique and work on top of sheet.

Informed Consent

Therapist will keep the client draped appropriately at all times during the treatment and will only uncover the area  that the Therapist needs to work on.

Boundaries and expectations of Client for the treatment should be clearly communicated and understood by both the Client and the Therapist to create a safe and comfortable environment.

Always communicating to explain "what you’re going to do—before you do it." during the massage

Informing the Client to keep their cell phones off to avoid any disruption

Privacy

Any personal or medical history shared with the Therapist remains completely confidential, and only discussed with the health care team if needed.

Client is provided a designated area to dress and undress, and Therapist will always knock and inform before entering the treatment room.

No personal questions asked by Therapist or Client during the massage.

Post Communication By Client

What Should I expect Post-Massage?

How often should I get a massage?

Can you recommend any exercise or stretches?

Will the massage leave any bruises or marks?

When can I book again?

Is it normal to have headache after a massage?

What should I do if I feel any pain or discomfort?

REMEMBER, a good therapist will appreciate your engagement and be more than happy to address your concerns.

Avoid using the term “masseuse"

It sounds offensive!
